Barley Legal II: Activist Judges Gone Wild!

July 31, 2007 · Posted in Conservatism.ca

Admittedly even I didn’t see this one coming. This truly is a sad day, and marks a new low for Canada’s judiciary.

It appears a judge, in wisdom that is far greater than the Government elected freely by the people, has made yet another contemptuous political decision, this time overturning a Cabinet decision that allowed barley farmers the simple (and, one might assume, basic) right to sell their production to the buyer they chose, rather than forcing them to sell their production only to the Communist Wheat Board.

This level of blatant contempt for democracy might even make Robert Mugabe blush.

A minority government, freely elected by a minority of the people.
