Green Conservatives

The Toronto Star got half the story this past week, noting with some surprise that 36 percent of Conservative voters have the Greens as their second choice.

I’m happy to report that I am one of that 36%.

Is it because, as the Green Party thinks, that I think they are great? No, I’m afraid not.

There are three reasons:

1. The Liberal and New Democratic Parties are backwards and out of touch with Canadians.

2. The Green Party is seen as an ‘environmental’ party. Although I think many of their policies are awful, I would like to see issues of the environment move up the radar in Canada for all parties.

3. There are no other viable Conservative alternatives.

The Green Party registers a protest vote, but is ‘safe’, because they could certainly not elect more than a handful of MPs — and that, only if they are really, really lucky.

My mother taught me two important lessons about fringe politics which I still believe today. The fringe is full of ideas, and sometimes they are good ones. And, without the fringe, there’d be no mainstream.

So, go Green Party! You firmly remain my second choice.

There were people in the Green Party who wanted to turn it into a viable conservative alternative (though not viable enough to create votesplitting -- just to send a message if the Tories became too moderate). The move to the centre under Jim Harris would have continued under David Chernushenko, and that would have made a move to the right more plausible. In any case, the dream is all but dead now.

Call yourself anything but the NDP'er you are.

A vote for the Green party is a vote for the NDP, plain and simple.

Ken Dryden, claims to be a liberal, but leftist policies betray his true leanings..

Buzz Hargrove, now calls himself a liberal..

Bob Rae, same as above..

Elizabeth May, claims to be green,

was/is NDP activist...

All singing the same tune,

capitalism..BAD...

socialism..GOOD...

It won't be long, before all the candidates in all canadian elections, will be NDP'ers in disguise.!!

Got news for ya bud these fools would be worse for Canada than even the NDP, the reason being that their goals have nothing to do with Canada but rather the Inter-national Green movement.
They would sacrifice Canada's economy in a heartbeat.
