Banning floor crossing makes a complete mockery of our electoral system.

We don't vote for a party, or for a Prime Minister, we vote for an MP. It needs to be up to the MP to make a decision that he/she feels is in tbe best interests of the consitutents.

Before anyone else says it, I know, I know, I'm living in a fantasy world...party whips control MPs...but why would we give them MORE power by not letting anyone leave?

For that matter, why is threatening to punish an MP for not toeing the party line a form of coersion?

If there's a BQ MP crossing to the Conservatives, I hope it's Caroline
St. Hilaire. She's so pretty. She'd
be great in Tory Blue. Take that you separatists!! More importantly,
she would represent a younger generation, that would see a lot of young people in their 20's and 30's jump on board the Conservative bandwagon. I think she represents a lot. Ruby Dhalla would have done the same.

The Liberals are now joining the NDP in demanding that the Accountability Act ban floor-crossing, so maybe they are worried. There are also rumours of some BQ MP's and the independent MP crossing to the Conservatives.
