Dorval Airport
Dear Minister of Transport,
Having recently visited Montreal, I pondered the name change of the airport. It seems it was renamed from Dorval to Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
I have a number of concerns relating to this change.
First, I am concerned about the number of syllables. In the old name, there were 2, and in the new name there are 7. What if there is an emergency and somebody needs to quickly rattle off the name of the airport? Clearly this creates an unnecessary safety issue.
Second, the initials of the airport are P.E.T. This looks an awful lot like P.E.I. What if somebody is trying to find the green gables, and ends up at the Notre-Dame Basilica? This is already confusing people, and may possibly hurt the tourism of our smallest island province.
Third, all the acronyms for P.E.T. are scary sounding science words like “Positron Emission Tomography”, “Phase Emission Tomography” and “Piezo-Electric Transducer”. Even worse, when you add the A (for Airport), it spells P.E.T.A., which is the same acronym as a militant (sometimes called “terrorist”) animal rights group “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals”. Do you really want people to be handcuffed and dragged away because they say they are on their way to PETA! The Dorval Airport acronym is much nicer. D.A. is short for “District Attorney”, “Data Acquisition” and “Denmark” (nobody would confuse Copenhagen for Montreal).
Fourth, I never liked Pierre Trudeau very much.

Belinda is clearly better than Hedy
Wow, what a tough choice.
As one of those wise people who voted for Belinda for leadership of the Conservative Party, I am sad that she has gone off to the Liberals, and may now be their leader.
What a true loss for us, as she would clearly be the best leader of any political party in Canada, possibly the world, and maybe even the entire universe!
It is important to have a leader driven by (uh, ever changing) principles.
Grab hold of your chance, Liberals! Don’t let her slip by!
